Kate Bannister

Photographer | Filmmaker | Story-teller | Naturalist | Diver

Kate is a photographer and naturalist based in the South of England. A lover of moths, telling stories of forgotten wildlife, nature connection and conservation success stories. Inspired by the world around her, Kate use photography to show the wonders of forgotten and depleting wildlife. British moths, insects that are reducing in numbers and often demonised and misrepresented in media often feature in her work. Kate’s work is dynamic and combines a variety of lens-based image making techniques. Her current project, Drawn to the Light, aims to share the joys of moths: questioning the stereotypes that people have about them and reframing the common views on moths.

Studying Marine and Natural History Photograph at Falmouth University, Kate developed a variety of skills in image making, story-telling and wildlife field craft. Always having loved the outdoors, she was brought back to her roots by getting behind the camera and photographing the world. Since re-discovering a love of the wild, Kate has learnt about unique and unloved species and now uses photography to share these wonders with others.
